Hikes a short drive away

Cae Du is a fantastic location to visit the best walking hotspots in Eryri (Snowdonia). Just a short, scenic drive away from Cae Du will take you to endless destinations to start a walk from or just to explore the beauty of Eryri; either way it's a guaranteed great day out!

Rachy

Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) via pen y pass

From Beddgelert take the sherpa bus to pen y pass where you can climb Snowdon via either the PYG track or for those with the taste of adventure - the more challenging horseshoe via Crib Goch where you will be rewarded with dramatic mountain scene.

Gand

Park at Beddgelert Forest - 8 minute drive

Although you can walk to Beddgelert Forest from Cae Du, the car park provides an excellent base to climb the lesser walked mountains in the area - Cae Du favourites. A glorious mountain day out can see you climb Y Garn, Mynydd Drws-y-Coed and Trum y Ddygl, or alternatively Moel Hebog, Moel Yr Ogof and Moel Lefn.

Snowdon rhyd ddu

Park at Rhyd Ddu - 9 minute drive

Enjoy a circular walk from Rhyd Ddu with lake views through forests and over the mountain Mynydd Mawr. From Rhyd Ddu you can also climb Snowdon.

Cnicht

Park at Croesor - 20 minute drive

For a glimpse of the famous North Ffestiniog slate quarries park at Croesor and climb the impressively shaped Cnicht (The Welsh Matterhorn) or an alternative route will see you climb Moelwyn Mawr.

Tryfan

Park at Llyn Ogwen - 27 minute drive

Challenge yourself to scramble up to the top of the spectacular Tryfan, why not tick off Glyder Fach and Fawr whilst you are there and return via the Devil's Kitchen. From Llyn Ogwen you can also bag the third and fourth highest mountains in England and Wales, Carnedd Llewelyn and Carnedd Dafydd. For a shorter walk you can walk the banks of Llyn Idwal and be provided with stunning mountain scenery.
